GeoGed.com, genealogical cartography

Created by a passionated genealogist and programmer, GeoGed is a free service enabling you to create precised and detailled maps of your own genealogy.

How does it work?

All you have to do is to sign-up, to upload your genealogy file (Gedcom format) and to wait a few seconds! You will then download your cartography and profit from is using Google Earth (free download of Google Earth here).

What does a genealogical cartography looks like?

Cartographies created by GeoGed.com enable :

  • to display your whole genealogy
  • to display your genealogy by century

For each place, the following data is displayed :

  • Name of the place
  • Concerned era
  • Number of individuals
  • Total number of events
  • Number of events by type (NBMDS...)

To make your own mind about it, you'll find an example of cartography here. Also, you can have a look at the latests cartographies created (cf. right column).

Is it really free?

As already said in the preamble, I am first of all passionated person and I'd like as many as possible to take advantage of this service! So yes, this service is absolutely free!

In fact, this project is a Postcardware. So don't hesitate to send me tonns of postcards... Thanks in advance!
